Stanley Anton Janiskiewicz November 1, 1926 – October 30, 2016
Stanley Anton Janiskiewicz was born on November 1, 1926 on the family farm in the GlenBain district, the 11th of 14 children to Peter and Mary Janiskiewicz. He was raised on the family farm and attended Simonson School, where he enjoyed playing ball and hockey with his brothers and friends. On October 15, 1954, Stan married Helen Jones of Kincaid. They had 2 daughters, Debra Lynn and Gail Marie. They made their homes in Regina, Calgary and Pilot Butte for a number of years and in 1986 moved back to Kincaid, where Stan continued to do carpentry work. Many places in and around Kincaid boast some of Grandpa’s work. He most loved working with oak and most things he made for his family were made of oak – from dressers to desks, grandfather clocks and china cabinets. When they moved to Kincaid, Stan continued to stay active, curling in Kincaid, sometimes making a cameo in the Annual July 1 Kincaid Slo-Pitch Tournament. He loved to watch his grandchildren play hockey and would often help shuttle them throughout the southwest. He also enjoyed watching the grandchildren play ball, as well as his fair share of dance recitals, skating carnivals and Christmas concerts. He was always there to cheer them on, and though he didn’t always stay to the end to see you after, you always knew he was there. Stan also loved to play cards, and was a regular member of the Club 50 in Kincaid. Though he only lived less than a block away, Stan always drove his maroon Ford truck wherever he had to go, so you always knew where Grandpa was in town. He would often participate in senior tournaments in cards, darts and bowling, and he was always a fierce competitor. Stan lived to see 14 great-grandchildren born! He loved to hear stories of their schooling and their activities and most recently trying to keep track of all the new babies and who they belong to! Stan was predeceased by his wife, Helen in 1995. He leaves to remember, his daughters: Debbie, of Kincaid and daughters Michelle (Darren) Steinley, their children Andrew and Noah; Taryn (Darren) Schwartz and their daughters Megan and Rylee; Sara Robertson (Jim Dewhurst), Kirby (Tim) Sullivan and their daughter Zoey; his daughter Gail (Dale) Gross, their sons Aaron (Stephanie) Gross and their children Matthew and Mia; Tyler (Betina) Gross and their children Gabriel, Isabelle and Samuel; and Scott (Karen) Gross and their sons Ryker, Avery, Walker and Jackson. A memorial service was held at the Kincaid Legion Hall on November 4th with Faher Hope Klutsey presiding. Memorial donations for the Foyer d’Youville Memorial Fund (c/o Box 875, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0) will be gratefully received.
