Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on November 26, 2016, John Whitty age 87 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret (Power) in 2015; parents John and Bridget Whitty; brothers Leo (Barb) and Michael; sisters Mary (Duncan) Hall, Veronica (Roy) Reick, Catherine (John) Boland; parents-in-law Peter and Alice Power; brothers-in-law John and Jim (Hazel). Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his children Brian, Barry (Helen), Pauline (Peter) Johnson, John (Karen), Robert (Marilyn), Randy (Pam) and Lisa (Darrin) Holwell; the lights of his life, his 11 grandchildren Alicia (Adam), Sarah (Kyle), Crystal (Jordan), Michael, Brent (Sarah), Oliva, Andrew (Keri), Shauna, Taylor, Kailey and Tyler. Also leaving to mourn his sister Rita Manning (Ed); sister-in-law Ethal (James deceased) Tapper; brother-in-law Cyril (Genie) Power and a very large number of nieces and nephews. Leaving behind lifelong friends Gordon Turner, Wilson and Sheila Thorne whom he shared many a good times! We always love hearing the stories, they never seem to end. Also Pam Winsor (caregiver of four years), you made him laugh and kept him moving. You always brought a smile to his face when you entered the room. Thank you to the staff of Chancellor Park and North Pond Manor for your care during his brief stays. The doctors and nurses of St. Clare's fourth floor for your compassion in his final days. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, Torbay, on Sunday, November 27 from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, November 28 from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place from Holy Trinity Church, Torbay on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Our Dad loved a laugh and a "good time" and to hear stories about his children and grandchildren's lives. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations to the Alzheimer's Society.
