GISELA WILHELMINE SCHULZ

GISELA WILHELMINE SCHULZ

November 22, 1943, Esslingen, Germany - December 4, 2016, Gibsons, BC
"The stubborn old woman" (in her words), but actually a sweet and lovely woman with a cheeky sparkle in her brown eyes, died peacefully on Sunday.
Giselle's life spanned from Germany to Australia, and then to Canada, where she and her husband Kurt worked conscientiously at their businesses which included running pet stores in Woodstock, Ontario, where their son Rene was born, and then a care home in London, Ontario.
They moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1987 where they graciously welcomed guests from around the world while operating their Happy Holidays Motorhome Rentals business. The welcoming committee usually included one of their beloved dachshunds.
They made time for some of their own adventures to explore the landscapes of Canada and beyond, and they grew to love the surrounding inlets and mountain vistas of BC.
With many thanks to the wonderful care aides Winette, Luce, Sheryl and Irene, the Palliative VCH nurses, and the competent, kind and gentle staff at Shorncliffe.
In lieu of a memorial, appreciate those around you, be good to all dogs, and help support keeping Shorncliffe available for all the wonderful care it provides to the community.
From "Daffodils" by William Wordsworth
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
