Dean, Edith Veola, age 81, of Truro Heights; Our dearest Mom, Nanny D, and Great Grammy, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Truro. Born December 10, 1935 in North River, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Betty (Daley) Nelson. Small but mighty, Mom taught all of us the true meaning of love and family. She so loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and especially the love of her life, our Dad. Famous for her poached eggs on toast, which was offered on any occasion and could whip up a great meal for any number of people on no notice. She had such a way of making her grandchildren laugh with her stories, and colorful language. Mom you were the greatest, never asked for nothing, but gave us everything money couldn’t buy. She instilled in all of us, you don’t need material things, just love, caring, and laughter, and a good Biff (LOL) if we needed it. Left to mourn, her husband of 59 years, Jim; children, Steve (Monique), Jamie, Rob (Shelley), Lisa, Ralph (Marg), and Linda; grandchildren, Timmy (Kelly), Tasha (Jonathon), Jeremy, Jaeger, Jaden, Joel, Josie, Josh, Ben and Emily; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Lucas, Lexi and Lydia; dogs, Hershey, Hemi, Cuda and Jake. She was predeceased by brothers, Doug and Allison. Your strength, courage, and love, will be the inspiration to keep us all going. Thank you Mom, for your special hugs and kisses before you passed. You will be with us every day, till we meet again. We Love You. A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Sunday, December 18, from 2 ~ 5 pm, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Family flowers only.
