Beloved husband, devoted father, cherished brother and respected friend Michael John MacKinnon passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the age of 59.
Michael was born in Howie Centre to the late Murdock and Mary Catherine (MacGillivary) on November 29, 1957. He worked at Atlantic Cat for the past thirteen years. He also worked in his community, lending his hands to anyone who needed them. He was, without fail, generous with both his time and his kind words.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna (Smith) of Howie Centre; children, AnnMarie and Donald (Emily); brothers, Roderick (Christena), Murdock (Linda) and Kevin (Michelle); father-in-law, Lorne Smith (95) of Howie Centre and his children, Ken, Michael and Diane and their families; many loving nieces and nephews; extended and chosen family; colleagues and friends.
Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, December 29 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 30 at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay. Interment in parish cemetery. A reception will be held at the East Bay Firehall following the service.
