It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maben Martin at his residence surrounded by family and friends on Dec. 29, 2016 at 81 years of age. Formerly of Birmingham, England, he has been a long time member of the Corner Brook community and involved in many clubs including chess, bowling and bridge. His true passion was reading which lead him to become a member of the Corner Brook Public Library Board. He is survived by his wife Helen Martin; daughter Stephanie (Terry) Carter; son Iain (Jolene) Martin; grandchildren: Austin, Evan and Alex; brother Douglas of Queensland, Australia; in-laws: Nelson (Jennie) Greening, Robert (Eileen) Greening, Tony (Wanda) Greening; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Violet and Richard Martin; three sisters and one brother. In following with Maben's request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service in celebration of Maben's life will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, Jan 2nd, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. to be followed by a service at Country Haven Funeral Chapel officiated by Father Edward Terry.
