Rita Ann Windsor

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Rita Ann Windsor, age 96 at the MacGillivray Guest Home on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late J. J. and Mary (MacGillivary) Robertson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Rita was employed with Crowells and later with Woolco in the sales department. Rita was a long standing member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She was a member of the CWL. She loved playing practical jokes, enjoyed attending all family events and gatherings, spending time with her family and friends sipping on a ‘SLIDE’. Rita is survived by her two sons, Fred (Beth) Windsor, Sydney, Robert (Yvonne), Windsor, Vancouver, BC; her grandchildren, Freddie (Natalie) and Cheryl, Sydney, Paul (Stephanie) and Tracy; Vancouver; her precious great grandchildren, Bobby and Noah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Fred and her siblings. A special thanks to friend and neighbor Mae Chisholm, who cared for her until the end. The family would like to thank the MacGillivray Guest Home staff, doctors and nurses for their care and compassion given to mom during her stay there. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating.
