Kevin MacNeil, age 67 of Steele’s Hill, Glace Bay passed away at home on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Peter and Elva (Chant) MacNeil. Kevin spent several years with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the military, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and had worked on the Confederation Bridge. He was a former member of St. Anthony’s Church as well as the Knights of Columbus. Kevin was a very independent man who enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, carpentry work and fixing cars. He is survived by his nephew, Steven Pace (Zara), Glace Bay; two aunts, Annie T. and Rita; brother-in-law, Gary Pace; several cousins and many friends from all over the world. Besides his parents, Kevin was predeceased by his three sisters, Marlene Pace, Janet and Bernice in infancy and his brother, Mike ‘Boris’ MacNeil. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee is Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church followed by a reception in the church hall. Veterans/Legion members are asked to form an honor guard at the church for their departed comrade.
