RYAN, Harold George – age 66, Yarmouth, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 28, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born January 29, 1950 in Point Tupper, NS, he was a son of the late Colin and Mary (Hayes) Ryan. Harold worked as a fisherman, a carpenter, as well as in the landscaping business. He loved playing darts and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2181 Yarmouth, where he was a member of their choir. He was also a former active member of the Yarmouth and Area Ground Search and Rescue team for many years, having taken part in the recovery following the Swissair disaster. Harold is survived by his children, Theresa (Neil) Muise and Scott Ryan (Debbie Power), both of Yarmouth; his companion, Glenna Smith; sisters, Sadie Hearn, Port Hawkesbury and Ruby (Lorne) Johnstone, St. Margaret’s Bay; grandchildren, Jessica Cormier, Amber Cormier, Matthew Cormier, Jordan Vacon; step-grandchildren, Gerard Muise and Katie Muise; great grandchildren, Makayla Comeau, Dawson Cormier, Larissa Comeau, Zoey Cormier, Payton Cormier, Macali Cormier, Tessa Cormier, Matthew Cormier Jr. and Miles Muise, as well as many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol (Keeping) Ryan and a brother, John Ryan. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where the memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
