John "Minto" Maxwell

John "Minto" Maxwell

The family of the late John “Minto” Maxwell would like to extend our gratitude for all of the support and kindness from family and friends during this difficult time.

Special thanks to the staff of the DVA Unit at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility for their caring in looking after Minto. Another special word of thanks for both Bob Grant and Ches Verge, who served in the same regiment with Minto during the war, and continued to visit him during his time at Long Term Care.

To the Very Reverend Baxter Park for his kind words and for a beautiful service, and to St. John the Evangelist, which served as Minto’s spiritual home for over 50 years; to the Senior’s Echo Club, who hosted a lovely reception; to everyone who sent messages of condolences, delivered food and made donations to the Alzheimer’s Society. We would also like to thank the members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #32, of whom he was a proud member until the very end.

Finally, we would like to express our extreme gratitude to the staff of Fillatre’s Funeral Home for the loving care and grace in the way they handled our father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend.

To those who helped in any way, we gratefully appreciate your time and efforts.

“My time has been full, I savored much,
Good time, a loved ones touch,
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief,
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, he set me free.”

Mabel Maxwell, David, Garry, Dianne, Rod, Lorner and families
