Linda Harris

Linda Rae Harris (Moretti)
Born: Jan. 22, 1945 – Victoria, B.C.
Died: Jan. 15, 2017 – Squamish, B.C.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Linda Harris on January 15, 2017.
Throughout her life, Linda was gifted at making genuine connections, which led to a lifetime of special relationships within the community and around the world. Her generosity was well known and she took great pride in helping and seeing others succeed – something she was able to do daily in her years as a teacher.
Born in Victoria, B.C. on January 22, 1945, Linda graduated from Oak Bay High School before moving on to graduate from UBC’s Faculty of Education.
She began her teaching career in Squamish in 1967, and after taking a career pause to focus on being a full-time Mom, she returned to the classroom in the 1980s, receiving her Special Education diploma at UBC. During her final years of teaching at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School, Linda developed a passion for special education, enriching the lives of so many students, colleagues and parents.
Linda’s zest for travel and genealogy led to many adventures from Manchester to Melbourne and many points in between. Still, one of her purest joys was playing with her grandchildren in Toronto.
Linda is survived by Trevor, her beloved husband of 48 years, daughter Lori (Mike), sons Steven (Janine) and Christopher (Rae Ann), grandchildren Simon, Cole, Bronwyn and Sydney, and a large and loving extended family of brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many dear friends.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Lions Gate Hospital Chemotherapy Clinic, Squamish General Hospital Palliative Care and to her church community at Squamish United.
A service honouring Linda’s life will be held on January 28, at 1 pm at St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Squamish, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Linda may be made to the Squamish Hospice Society. To sign the book of condolences, please go to www.squamishfuneralchapel.com
