LeBLANC, R. Annette – age 90, Villa St-Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Lower Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Villa. Born April 25, 1926 in Wedgeport, she was a daughter of the late Leo Etienne and Lydie Jeanne (Pothier) Cottreau. After attending school in East Wedgeport, she became a school teacher, having studied home economics at Loretteville, Quebec. Annette taught at schools in Comeau’s Hill, Amirault’s Hill, Wedgeport North and Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau. Together with her family, they lived on the Tusket Islands for 6 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 155, Wedgeport. She loved knitting and was a very devoted member of Saint Michael’s Parish, where she sang in the choir for 60 years. She is survived by sons Leo (Brenda) LeBlanc, Neil (Maureen) LeBlanc and Kevin (Mona) LeBlanc, as well as grandchildren, Robie, Jamie, Kristin, Colin, Neil Jr., Julian, Marina, Lucien and Simon; great grandchildren, Hunter, Madison, Aden, Kennedy, Charlotte, Avery, Riley, Logan, Dawson, Dillon, Nolan, Josée, Kristine, Hallie and Bryden. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Harold LeBlanc, as well as a brother, Wilfred Cottreau and a sister Louella Cottreau. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 20 from Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Internment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund. The family wishes to thank the doctors and the nursing staff at Villa St. Joseph for the care and compassion they showed their mother throughout her stay there.
