LeBLANC, Doris Mae – age 85, Morris Island, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 21 in Morris Island, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Virgine (Muise) Fitzgerald. She was a factory worker, having worked at GE in Ontario and as a fish processor when they returned home to Yarmouth County. In her spare time, Doris loved flower gardening, playing bingo, camping, making crafts, going to the casino and spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Peter LeBlanc, as well as by their daughters, Gail (Lenny) Surette, Surette’s Island and Donna (Merle) d’Entremont, Lower West Pubnico; step-children, Joseph (Tina) LeBlanc, Michael LeBlanc and Sharon (Tom) Dennison, all of Cape Cod, MA; grandchildren, Marcel, Jean-Marc and Raquelle; step-grandchildren, Brendon, Ashley, Rachel, Evan, Mikey, Nicole, Kayla, Courtney, Cameron and a great granddaughter, Alyssa. Also surviving are sisters, Rosie LeBlanc, Morris Island and Josephine (Raymond) Cottreau, British Columbia. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Roy Maillet, as well as by siblings, Estelle Atkinson, Mary LeBlanc, Elizabeth “Zabeth” Muise, Willard Fitzgerald, Edward Fitzgerald and Alice LeBlanc. Visitation took place Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8:00 at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 13 from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island, Father Maurice LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
