It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, sister, aunt and friend, Madeline Thorne, age 59, on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Leona (LeMoine) Scott.
Madeline enjoyed going to Tim Horton’s for coffee, watching soap operas and hockey games, especially her Toronto Maple Leafs. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney.
She is survived by her son, Clayton Frederick Thorne; six sisters, Gertrude Kelly, Sydney Mines, Edith Parker, North Sydney, Janet Rogers and Freda Zuberovic, both of New Glasgow, Maureen Scott and Debbie Scott, both of Sydney; brother, Dennis Scott (Shauna Henry), North Sydney; special nieces, Lynn, Chelsea, Courtney (Godchild); and her nephew, Brayden Young ; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Lillian (Theresa), Mary, Jean; and four brothers, George, Raymond, Tom, Freddie.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors and nurses of the 3rd floor of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the care shown to Madeline.
There will be no visitation by request. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
