It is with great sadness that the family of the Late George Garfield McKay announce his passing, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017, at the age of 80 years. He leaves to mourn, his beautiful wife of 58 years Awilda; four sons: Tony (Linda), Nolan (Joanne), Kerry (Cathy) and Dwayne, all of Deer Lake, NL; five daughters: Belinda (Rick) Anstey of Fort McMurray, AB, Valda (Shawn) Critch of Deer Lake, NL, Georgina (Jimmy) Butt/Tuck of Oshawa, ON, Tina (Larry) Higdon of Wabamun, AB and Tonya (Derwin) Twyne of Fort McMurray, AB; 19 grandchildren: Justin Anstey, Krista Critch, Kirk Critch, Jennifer Richards, Victoria Butt-Tuck, Craig (Stephanie) McKay, Cecelia (Jordan) Ball, Ryan (Nikki) McKay, Michael McKay, Sarah McKay, Brian McKay, Kerri McKay, Danielle (Nicole) Higdon, Johnathon Higdon, Heather (Murray) White, Joey Healey, Anna Healey, Kendra-Dawn Twyne and Kelsey Twyne; seven great-grandchildren: Paisley Critch, Ethan Richards, William McKay, Georgia Murley, Gwen McKay, Blake and Kaleb White. He also leaves to mourn his baby brothers: William McKay (Jean) and Leonard McKay (Elizabeth) and his only precious sister, whom he loved dearly, Elizabeth Walsh, of Stephenville, NL, and their extended families; brothers-in-law: Howard (Dorothy) Rowsell, Maxwell (Geraldine) Rowsell and Bramwell (Joan) Rowsell; and sisters-in-law: Sylvia Giles and partner Roy Goosney, Zelma McKay and Kay McKay and all of their families. George was predeceased by his best buddies and partners in great fun and badness his brothers: Edward McKay (Ned) and Baxter McKay; his dad Piercey McKay; and his hardworking dedicated mother Rebecca nee Osbourne. Formerly of Seal Cove, White Bay, also his special sisters-in-law Maisy (McKay Ginn), Cora Rowsell and Emma Rowsell. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 from the hours of 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL, with Funeral Services taking place on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 at 2 pm at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Deer Lake, NL, with Pastor Grimes and Pastor Coles officiating.
