ther and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25 2017 at the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13, 1931, to George and Mary (nee MacDonald) Holwell, in St. John's, NL. Frank grew up in St. John's, attending St. Patrick's Hall School, and attended Memorial University. He spent his career as an accountant, holding positions with Fort Pepperell Base Exchange, W.J. Roche & Sons Ltd., and Public Works Canada. Frank enjoyed woodworking, creating beautiful items for family, and tending to his plants and garden. A warm-hearted man, he happily rescued and cared for homeless cats. He also cherished spending time with his family over tea, and frequently meeting with dear friends over coffee. Predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Holwell (nee Bartlett). Frank is survived by his loving family, including his close friend Gail Powell, his children Frank (Jayne), Gina (Bobby), Paul, and Cheryl (Rick); as well as eight grandchildren Lindsey (Brogan), Christina (Glenn), Paul (Krystal), Shannon (Kevin), Crystal (Chad), Allison (Joel), David (Lauren), and Robbie; and two great-grandchildren Abigail and Caleb; as well as extended family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Pat O'Shea, the staff in the Palliative Care Unit, and those who helped during his illness. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 28, 2017, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Pius X Parish, 16 Smithville Crescent, on Saturday April 29th, 2017, at 9:30 am, with interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Frank's memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, the SPCA, the Red Cross, or to a charity of one's choice.
