Frederick John Conohan, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family. Born in Sydney, Fred was the son of the late John and Rachel (MacKenzie) Conohan.
Fred will be sadly missed by his wife, Marsha and his children, Sharon, Loretta, Ann, Darlene, Charlie, Martha, Barbara, Helen and Kimberley. He also leaves behind his six siblings; seven sons-in-law; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Moules, eight siblings and a grandson.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass for the late Fred John Conohan will be celebrated on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, Sydney with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at St. Theresa’s parish hall. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Fred may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
