Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family, Rita Wakeham of Placentia, on May 7, 2017, age 96 years. Predeceased by husband William; parents Thomas and Ida Foley; siblings Agustine, Eileen, Violet, Ida, Mary, Agatha, Josephine, Theresa, Rose and Sheila; sons-in-law George Griffin and Nicholas Devereaux. Leaving to mourn loving and devoted children Donna Griffin, Ann Marie Devereaux, Elaine McCue, Billy (Loretta), John (Joan) and Cathy Griffin (Brian), 11 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren, sister Clotilda Chaytor, in Botwood and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Rita was an avid bowler, dart player and community volunteer for many years. The family would like to thank the staff of the Placentia Health Centre, Rita's care givers who assisted her to live in her own home until her passing, special friend Laura Moore Kitzke and niece Lucy Wakeham. Funeral arrangements entrusted Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place on Monday from 7pm to 9pm, and Tuesday from 2pm to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial to take place 2pm on Wednesday, May 10th at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia. Interment to follow at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast Placentia.
