Lieu de décès : Surette's Island
Date de décès : 12 mai 2017

It is with extreme sadness, that we announce the passing of Joseph Bradley Fitzgerald on May 12th, 2017. Brad fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed peacefully with his family by his side at his home on Surette's Island. Brad was a good friend to all that knew him and had a very sharp wit, strong moral character and plenty of comebacks which usually left us in awe. Family was a priority to Brad as he reveled when his children and grandchildren were close by his side. Brad was born on February 27, 1962 to Flora Belliveau and spent his childhood growing up on Surette's Island. Shortly after school, he started working in the fishing industry for a few years until he found his real calling working in the automotive business. Brad had a passion for cars and the need for speed. Stock car racing was a good fit for numerous years along with his love of motorcycles. Seeing Brad cruising down the highway on his motorcycle or burning up the track up in a corner slide said everything. Riding with his love Frances, on the open highway meant everything to him. They were involved in numerous charity rides and both lived life to the fullest. He truly came in at the finish line of life, sliding sideways saying “Wow…what a ride”. Brad sadly leaves to mourn his spouse Frances O'Neill, daughter Cara (Robert Rodden) Fitzgerald, son Ryan (Stacey) Fitzgerald and son Brandon (Shawna Southern) Fitzgerald. He also leaves granddaughters Jorja and Kallie Pigeon and grandsons Lincoln and Lennon Fitzgerald; sisters Jean (Wayne) Albert, Kathy Belliveau and brother Danny. He was predeceased by mother Flora and step father Jimmy Belliveau. We would truly like to thank Dr. B MacDonald, all the staff in oncology, Dr Riley, and staff at palliative care, the VON and the EHS who in today’s health care are a shining light.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 8:00 p.m. from Sweeny's Funeral Home and Chapel, Pastor Mike Owen officiated. Burial will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund or the Tri County VON. “Don't cry because it's over, instead smile because you shared my journey.” ……….Till we meet again…. Brad
