Theresa Curry, 91, passed away peacefully at home, in Reno, Nevada on April 19, 2017. Theresa was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on July 13, 1925 to David and Rose Murphy. She married John (Jake) Curry in 1947 and moved to Massachusetts in 1963, where they raised their family before moving west to California. Upon retirement, they moved to Arizona for five years and then relocated to Reno in 2002 to be around family.
Theresa is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, John, and their four children, David (Isabel) of Rohnert Park, CA, Bob (Cecilia) of Petaluma, CA, Roslyn Hunlock (Frank) of Reno, NV and Jerry (Nancy) of Sparks, NV; her brother, David Murphy of Edmonton, Alberta and brother-in-law, Fr. Jerry Curry of Sydney. Also survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary and Ellen; and brothers, James, Daniel and Peter all of Nova Scotia, and grandson, Frankie. Theresa was a wonderful cook, and loved to entertain family and friends whenever possible. She had a great sense of humor, was an avid hockey and baseball fan, loved to travel, and would never pass up a good game of cards. The family wishes to thank Renown Hospice, and the wonderful people of St. Michael’s for their care and support during this last year.
