WILLIAM RAE

WILLIAM RAE

Date de décès : 14 avril 2017

On 14 April 2017, William Rae was called to his eternal home to be with his Savior, whom he served for many years. He is survived by daughters, Anita (Bruce) McKee & Caroline (Terry) Friesen; son, Andrew (Nicky) Rae; 10 grandchildren, and extended family. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Lilly; his parents; his brother, Tom; three brothers-in-law, and grandson, Nathan. He was born and raised in Falkirk, Scotland, but spent a few years as a child in Ohio. At age 9, he had an above-knee amputation, due to an accident. He loved Scotland; in his late teens and twenties, he cycled hundreds of miles enjoying the highlands. In 1946, Bill accepted the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. From then on, his life changed. His goal had been to become the greatest drummer in Scotland, but that changed to knowing and falling in love with his Savior. Later, after working in a science lab & as a cost accountant, Bill had a call by the Lord to become a minister. It was his passion to share the good news of the Gospel. He fearlessly defended the truth of God’s Word.
While on holiday in Northern Ireland, he met Lilly. They eventually married and several years later they, along with their 2 little girls, immigrated to NB. Bill pastored various churches in NB and NS, eventually retiring but continuing to live in Sydney where they thoroughly enjoyed life for 33 years. For 10 years, Bill pastored Westminster Bible Presbyterian Church; each Sunday morning, he was the radio voice on 'Harbour Lights'. As Lilly’s health declined, they made a difficult decision to relocate to the Winnipeg area in Oct 2015, to have help from their family. In Feb 2016, Bill was diagnosed with cancer, though he had about 9 good months. Symptoms returned in Dec, 2016. With help, Bill remained at home until his passing. In his final days he said “I want everyone to understand that Jesus died for them. He understood them and died for them. Thank God that whoever trusts in Him can have salvation. It is not of us but for the glory of God. Thank God that I am going to be with the Lord". The funeral was held on 17 April.
