Passed peacefully away on January 30, 2008 at Chancellor Park, St. John's, Matthew Francis Fitzpatrick, aged 85. Formerly a resident of Gander, retiree of Gander Aeradio after 34 years of service, member of the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis Club, St. Joseph's Church Choir, the Six Pack Singers, and a longtime community volunteer. Predeceased by his wife Julia (Dunphy) and son Michael. Leaving to mourn his sons: Brian, Glen and Jamie; grandchildren: Morgain, Ann, Julia, Rachel, Laura, Matthew and James; daughters-in-law: Jackie and Danine; brother William; as well as many other relatives, friends and retirees from "Signals". Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander, with visitations Thursday, January 31st from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass Friday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
