Retired - CNR - St John's, NL. Passed peacefully away at Ocean View Manor, Eastern Passage, NS, on April 9, 2008, after a valiant battle with cancer, James Mark Hutchings, in his 81st year. Formerly of St. John's, NL, he was the last surviving family member of Henry Hutchings of Spaniard's Bay, NL and Muriel (Benson) of Harbour Grace, NL. Jim was predeceased in 1993 by his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret (Daley). Jim is survived by his devoted companion Kay Myra; his children: Pauline of Toronto, Wally (Mary) of Ottawa, Elaine Furlong (Tom) of Bedford and Doreen (Ron Dingwell) also of Bedford; as well as grandchildren Geoff, Meg, Tommy, Adam, Chris and Becky. Also survived by relatives and friends in Newfoundland and Ontario; and of course his many good friends at the Legion. Donations may be made to Ocean View Manor Foundation, P.O. A memorial service will be held in Jim's honour and remembrance at All Saints Anglican Church, 1408 Bedford Highway at 11:00 a.m. on April 26, 2008, followed by inurnment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
