Nina Smith
(Pottle) August 26, 1912 - April 16, 2008. It is with great sadness that the families of the late Nina Smith (Pottle) announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on April 16, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Nina was born at Flat Rock, Carbonear. Nina was a member of the United Church, and was quite active in the community. Nina retired from teaching. Predeceased by parents, Albert and Alice Pottle; brother Ken and sisters: Ada and Allison. Left with fond and loving memories are her sisters: Florrie (Lawrence), Kathleen and Lavinia of St. John's and Anne of Toronto; brothers: Reuben of St. John's, Lester (Viola) of Salmon Cove, Oliver of New Hamshire; also leaving to mourn sister-in-law Queenie Decker; brother-in-law George Earle; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Reverend Betty Robbins conducted the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes in Springdale on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lloyd Weir, Ken Leek, Jonathan Stacey, Gordon Jenkins, Don Matthews and Jerry Stacey. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace United Church, Springdale.
