Evelyn Mae Simpson, 95, of Debert, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Debert, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Everett and May (Withrow) McCully. Evelyn was a member of the Debert United Church and the U.C.W., and a long-term resident of Debert. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Myrtle Chapter 21.
velyn loved to garden and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. She enjoyed going for her walks, knitting afghans for her grandchildren and had a great passion for chocolates and ice cream. Evelyn had a great love for her family and also for her faithful dog Skipper.
She is survived by sons Douglas (Betty) Truro, Gerald (Linda) Masstown, Robert (Gaye) Appleton, NL; daughters Barbara Bennett (Tom) Louisville, Kentucky, Brenda MacLeod (David) Debert; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon McCully (Phyllis) Debert; sister, Beryl Putnam Debert.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; daughter in infancy; brothers, George, Sid, Curtis. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and where the Order of the Eastern Star Myrtle Chapter 21, will conduct a tribute service at 7:30 p.m. and where funeral service will take place Tuesday, February 10, at 2 p.m. all in the Debert United Church, Debert.
Rev. Brian DeLong will officiate with a reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will take place at a later date in Main Road Cemetery, Debert.
