MORRISSEY, Detective Sgt Dean
of the Ontario Provincial Crime Unit,
London. It is with great sadness that
the family of Dean James Morrissey
announces his sudden passing in
London, Ontario on January 19,
2009, at the age of 43. The much
loved son of Patrick and Loretta
(Bobbie) Morrissey of Niagara
Falls, formerly of St. John’s and
Bell Island, Dean is predeceased by
grandfather Addison Bown of Bell
Island and aunt Kathleen and uncle
Frank Smith of Gander. Leaving
to mourn his best friend and older
brother OPP Staff Sergeant Patrick
Morrissey, sister-in-law Robin and
nieces Michaella and Anneliese of
London; his younger brother Neil
Morrissey of Niagara Falls; his
special friend Meredith Gardiner
and her daughter Zoe of London;
his grandmother Alice Bown,
uncles Bill and Tom (Joan) Bown,
aunt Elaine (Patrick) Stamp, and
aunt Bridie (Tommy) Furlong all of
St. John’s; and his great aunt Mary
(Walt) Butler of Niagara Falls. Dean
is sadly missed by his relatives in
Ontario and Newfoundland and
by his friends in Niagara Falls, St.
Catharines and London, especially
his colleagues in the OPP and the
Department of Justice in Southern
Ontario. Surrounded by his many
friends and colleagues, the family
said goodbye to Dean on Friday,
January 23rd at the Westview
Chapel in London, celebrating
an exceptional life that touched
the hearts of all who knew him.

at his alma mater, Brock University,
St. Catharines, Ontario, L2S 3A1.
