Blanche Etta Chase, 89, Truro. It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Blanche Chase (Willis). Born Sept. 9, 1918 in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Blanche Stoutley and Isaac William Willis. Blanche worked 25 years as a CNA at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #26, Royal Canadian Legion. She is survived by daughter Yvonne Penick (Chase); brothers, Ralph Willis Sr., John (Helen) Willis, Jim (Theresa) Willis Sr.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Merle Chase; grandson Jimmy Penick III; sisters Eulah Nicholas, Jamaica, New York, Helen McLaurin, Boston, Massachusetts; brothers Isaac Willis Sr., Merle Willis. Visitation and legion auxiliary tribute service will be held 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4 in Colchester Community Funeral Home 512 Willow St., Truro with a funeral service, Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. in St. John’s Anglican Church, 23 Church St., Truro with Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Colchester Community Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.
