Burton Muir Chase, 75, Truro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Aug. 26, 2007. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late William and Olive (Wormsley) Chase. He is survived by his wife Mary (Fielding) Chase; daughter, Jannie Chase, (Dave Johnson), Old Barns; stepdaughter Judi Fielding, B.C.; sons, Clyde, Dennis, both of Whitehorse, Terry, Halifax; stepson, Jim Fielding, B.C.; grandchildren, Denise and Matthew; former wife Betty (Redmond) Chase, Noel; stepmother Victoria Chase, Truro; brother, William (Gwen) Chase, Truro; sister, Peg Hill, Tatamagouche; sister-in-law, Doreen Chase, Truro. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Chase, Truro. Burt was well known throughout the surrounding areas of Nova Scotia for his creative ingenuity, working with iron, wood, and welding. Some of his most prized work can be viewed at the Mastodon Ridge in Stewiacke. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A private family committal will be held Thursday, Aug. 30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, the VON, Old Barns United Church, or a charity of choice.
