D. Robert "Bobby" Conroy, 61, of Alton, passed away on Feb. 15, 2007 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the son of Donald and Ruth (Boomer) Conroy of Alton. Bobby attended school in Alton and Brookfield high. He then attained a business administration degree from Success Business College in Truro. He worked with the Royal Bank in both Elmsdale and Halifax, retiring from Brookfield Creamery due to ill health. Actively involved in sports, Bobby played hockey with the Brookfield Elks and Hilden Owls. He also played softball with a number of different teams in Halifax. He was a past member of the Alton United Church and an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 in Truro. Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Beverly Ruth Conroy-Burch and her husband Albert, New Mexico; nephews, Matthew and Ryan Burch; niece, Samantha Burch; great-nephew Lucas Burch; great-niece Martha Isabella Burch; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. No visitation by request. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 will conduct an associate tribute service on Monday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. A memorial service will follow with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Both services will be held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Interment will be at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund of the Colchester Regional Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
