Dolores M. “Dee” Melvin, 55, Truro, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2008, in Colchester Regional Hospital with her husband, Allen, daughter, Kellie, and good friend, Brenda, by her side. She was the daughter of the late Doris Doyle and Thomas Prunty (both of Charlottetown, P.E.I.). She is survived by her husband, Allen; her children, Kellie Gallant, Rebecca Pottie, Christopher Gallant, and her grandchildren, Kyle, Michael, Natalie, and Madison. Dolores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a caring friend to many. She enjoyed life, had a sense of humour, a willingness to help anyone in need, and a love of animals, especially her dogs, Harlem and Brooklynn. Her loving nature, gentle smile, and good heart, along with her apple pie and scotch cookies, will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. and a reception to celebrate her life, all in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Burial will take place at a later date in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, and at Dolores’ request, donations can be made in her memory to any animal shelter.
