Doris Helen Prime, 82, Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born Oct. 28, 1925 in Harmony, Colchester County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Alice (MacKenzie) Reid. She was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church. Doris is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Glendon Whitney "Glen", Turo; daughter, Donna (Charles) Ferris, Truro; grandchildren, Scott (Vanessa) Ferris, New Glasgow; Kevin Ferris (Traci Northup), Kimberley Ferris (Jason Beaton), all of Truro; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jared, Brittany, Katelyn, Brooklyn; sisters, Joan Reid, Stellarton; Phylis Schenk, USA; Alice (Niles) Ahlberg, Ontario; Carol Smith, Bible Hill, Marylou (Ken) Fletcher, Ontario; brothers, Elvin (Hilda) Reid, Crowes Mills; Phillip Reid, British Columbia; Carl (Brenda) Reid, Bible Hill; Gordie (Sylvia) Reid, Harmony; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by grandson, Timothy in infancy; sister, Betty Baird; brothers, Earl MacKenzie, Eldridge, Irvin, Donald, Victor, Jackie and Freddie Reid, baby Reid in infancy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where Doris' family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Doris' nephew, Rev. Peter Reid, officiating. Interment at a later date in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Doris' memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
