Elizabeth "Margaret" Matheson, 93, formerly of Brookfield, passed away peacefully Nov. 18, 2007 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro with her family by her side. Born in Pleasant Valley, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Kennedy. Margaret was a member of Knox United Church and a member of the Pleasant Valley U.C.W. She was known locally for her culinary expertise. Her experiences were written up in the Company's Coming Magazine. Margaret was in her element when cooking, baking and hosting family and friends. She is survived by sons, Jordan, Robert (Dorene); daughter, Helene (Ernie Maynard); daughter-in-law, Debbie; grandchildren, Shawn (Jeff Lynds), G.R. (Holly), Sarah (Turtle Campbell), Stephen; great-grandchildren, Ben and Hannah. She was predeceased by her husband, John Leonard (Dick) Matheson; son, John Richard Matheson; sisters, Gladys (Marshall), Mabel (Cantelo), Amy (Langille), Marion (Brenton). Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro; funeral service on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Knox United Church, Brookfield with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Interment in Brookfield Westside Cemetery. Donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Alzheimer's Society, the Knox United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of choice.
