Carole Carlene (Boyd) Valentine, 65, Truro, passed away Friday, Feb. 29 at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. She was the daughter of the late Cecil and Inez (Whippie) Boyd. From 1959, Carole traveled with her husband, David, to numerous military bases across the country and overseas. In 1974 Carole and David retired from the military and opened their business, Valentine’s Lock and Key, where Carole and David worked for 26 years until they both retired in 1997. After retiring, Carole maintained an active lifestyle, serving the community, painting, caring for stray animals, and adventuring with her friends. She will be missed by her husband, her two daughters, her family, and her many, many friends. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, David; daughters, Katrina Valentine, Spokane, Wash., Kelly Valentine, Dartmouth; sisters, Marilyn Higgins, Onslow, Lois (George) Josey, Sheet Harbour; brothers, Ritchie (Emily), Economy, Ben (Grace), Truro, Ken (Heather), Belmont; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Raymond and Frank. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a memorial service Thursday, March 6 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Feltmate officiating, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro; interment in Belmont Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the S.P.C.A.
