Clyde Maxwell McNutt, 87, formerly of Onslow, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 at The Mira. Born in North Salem on June 11, 1921, he was a son of the late Lee Gorden and Edith Kathleen (MacKenzie) McNutt. He served overseas during the Second World War with the Canadian Corps of Signals. Following the war, he was employed by the Department of National Defense, CFB Debert and later with Commercial Safety College and CEC as a janitor. He is survived by sons Pastor Robert (Janis), Florenceville, N.B., Larry (Marilyn), Brookside; daughters Bonnie (Bill) Stokdijk, Beaver Brook, Sheri (Larry) Tirrell, Greenfield; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Ronald, Bible Hill, Angus, Tatamagouche, Harry (Vivian), Harmony, Daniel (Joan) Truro; sister Lena, North River; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Irene (Hill); sisters Ella Whidden, Bessie MacKenzie; twin brother Rex and Johnny in infancy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.; funeral service on Thursday at 10 a.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Pastor Robert McNutt officiating. Interment in Onslow Island Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to Gideon’s International or the Colchester Christian Academy.
