Cpl. James Andrew MacDonald, 55, of Truro, passed away suddenly at home, Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008. Born June 24, 1953 in Sydney, N.S., he was the son of the late James MacDonald and Eleanor MacLeod. A graduate of Holland College, Jim began his 35-year policing career in Newcastle, N.B. and Sydney, N.S. and spent the last 28 years with Truro Police. He was also a guest instructor in breathalyzer/data master for Holland College and the RCMP. Jim will be forever missed by his best friend and wife of 34 years Judy (McNabb); sister Patsy (Raymond) Foley, brother Vincent, both of Sydney, N.S. and many extended family members throughout Nova Scotia. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister Noreen. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. No visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince St., Truro, with Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Reception to follow in Campbell Hall. Donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS or to a charity of your choice. Interment will be held at a later date.
