Cpl. Thomas James Hamilton, 26, died suddenly in the line of duty on Dec. 13, 2008 in Afghanistan. Cpl. Hamilton was a proud member of 2RCR based in Gagetown, N.B. on his fourth tour of duty. Born in Truro, he was a son of Cindy Higgins and stepson of Wayne Graham, Burnside and son of Edward Hamilton, Hilden. A great outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing. He believed in his military mission and when not on security patrol often he could be found barbecuing for the other members of his platoon. Surviving are the first love of his life, daughter Annabelle, Fredericton; brothers John (Bobbi), Truro; David (Amie), niece Kacey, Fort St. John, B.C.; stepsister Rachelle, Sackville, N.B.; loving partner Katie Probert, Carroll’s Corner; maternal grandparents Russell and Esther Higgins, Upper Musquodoboit; step-grandmother Pauline Graham, Truro; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents Lloyd and Joan Hamilton; maternal great-grandmother Stella Fleming; step-grandfather Jack Graham. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with military funeral at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by Rev. Gary Burrill and Second Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment in St. James United Church Upper Musquodoboit. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
