Edith Blanche McNutt, 71, Valley, passed away suddenly Wednesday evening, Jan. 14, 2009 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born March 13, 1937 in Bible Hill, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Ella (Carmichael) Hamilton. Edith was a member of Valley United Church where she was a leader of Explorers and CGIT. She worked for many years with MT&T as a switchboard operator and after retiring from there she went to work at Zellers in Truro as a credit manager. She loved spending time at their cottage in Five Houses and she enjoyed bowling with the ladies from Zellers, doing crossword puzzles and volunteering with the Valley School PTA. Edith is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ronald “Ron, Ronnie”; daughter Beth Joudrey, Truro; son Brian, Truro; grandchildren Denise Miller (Matthew), Craig Joudrey, Jessica Bennett, Brittany and Brooklyn McNutt; great-grandchildren Kaleen, Claire, Jacob, Bryson and Thomas; sisters Alena Kaulback, Sheila (John) Clark, Truro; brothers Aubrey (Anne) Hamilton, British Columbia; Ken (Sharon) Hamilton, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Roger. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2008, Rev. Brian DeLong officiating.
