Elizabeth A. “Betty” Reid, 75, Belmont, passed away suddenly Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born Nov. 12, 1933 in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Harley and Verna (Roode) Crowell. Betty worked as a seamstress at the Lewis Hat Factory for many years. Betty is survived by her children Kelly (Jim) MacLean, Truro; David (Bev), Wayne (Lisa), Wendy (Rick), Blair, Brian (Tammy), Peter (Sarah), all of Belmont; 14 grandchildren; sister Ruth (Darrel) Turner, Belmont. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Everett Reid. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where Betty’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. (only), Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, Reverend Leslie Jobb officiating. Interment will be held in Belmont Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Betty’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society are welcomed.
