(Bob) P. Eng. Passed peacefully away on May 14, 2008 following a brief illness and with such quiet acceptance, Robert J. Thorburn, age 53. Left with wonderful memories, his wife Maureen Dunne and his two treasured children - daughter Casey and son Jack. Lovingly remembered by his mother, Rose Thorburn; sister Joan Fisher (John) and two brothers: Paul (Barb) and Brian (Mary); sisters-in-law: Carmel Anne Ellison (Bill) and Corinne Dunne (Eric Tiller); brothers-in-law: John Dunne (Beth), Paul Dunne (Alison Mews) and Peter Dunne. Bob will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews: Steven and David Fisher, Keelin and James Thorburn, Kye and Samantha Thorburn, Marc (Jessica) and John Andrews, Karen Young, John and Aiden Dunne, Laura and Andrea Dunne. Predeceased by his father Paul Thorburn (1988); father-in-law John Dunne (1996) and nephew David Andrews (2005). Bob had many interests - kayaking, gardening, BBQing in Brigus, jogging with his good friend Dave - but his greatest passion was people. He was a devoted husband and proud father, loyal friend and consummate professional - his partners, colleagues and friends at QuadraTec Inc. and extended Engineering community as well as the devoted "club crowd" will miss him every day. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 10-12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. from Mary Queen of Peace with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
