Date de décès : 24 mars 2008

DMYTRUK - Doris September 23, 1919 - March 24, 2008 It is with sadness, love and deep gratitude for her life filled with love, generosity and kindness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and dearest friend. Doris was born on September 23, 1919 in Poland. Doris came to Canada by ship with her family and they settled in Redfield, Saskatchewan. Doris married Mike Dmytruk on January 28, 1939 in Whitkow, Saskatchewan. Together they operated the general store for seven years. On August 10, 1940 their first child Iris was born in Redfield, SK and then on October 1, 1952 their son Gordon was born in North Battleford, SK. The family moved to Prince Albert in 1954 where they owned and operated Tip Top Grocers until 1968. Doris loved her job and it gave her the opportunity to pass on her kindness to others. Iris took ill and she helped out in any way that she could. It must have been difficult for her, but she never complained. Mike suffered a stroke in 1977, which left him with limited mobility and he passed away on July 29, 1984. Doris had a very close relationship with her sisters Mary and Jean. The three would travel together, enjoying each other's company. The phone would always be ringing in the mornings to see how everyone was doing. Doris lived on her own maintaining a beautiful garden and always welcoming family and friends with food and company. Doris suffered a stroke in 2002 leaving her without speech and with very limited movements. She moved into the Mont St. Joseph Care Home at that time. Even with her disabilities she continued to be an inspiration for her family, friends and workers at Mont St. Joseph. Doris loved attending Church and always was there when work needed to be done. Special friends to Doris were Stella Bartko and Fred Paskaruk. Doris is survived by her son Gordon (Pat) of Melfort; six grandchildren Donnie (Heather), Ryan (Charity), Laurie (Kirk Murdoff); Jill (Trevor Olynick), Darren (Kerri) and Nicole (fiancé Jeremy); seven great grandchildren Laurel, Spencer, Kalan, Brady, Kelsen, Ryder and Reid; sisters Mary Sagen and Jean Pidwerbeski; sisters-in-law Catherine Horbach, Mary Dmytruk and Olga Ruzesky and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Sam and Ann Horbach; daughter Iris (Zonnie) Swistun and brothers Bill, Ray and Peter. "A wonderful lady who will be remembered forever". In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation, 777 - 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 - 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK.
