James Lawrence Warren May 21, 1918 - April 21, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Lawrence Warren on April 21, 2008. He is survived by his wife Audrey (nee Smith) of Prince Albert, daughter Dianne Fisher (Terry) and grandsons Warren (Kim) and Brad (Shannon), great grandsons Colin and Harris, great granddaughter Audrey, all from Ottawa, Ont., son Doug (Candy) and grandsons Jeremy and Eric from Aberdeen, Sask., son Steve (Gisele) and grandsons Andrew and Jesse, granddaughter Jennifer from Saskatoon, Sask., sister Patricia Steven (Napa, Cal.), brother-in-law Syd Smith (Shellbrook), sister-in-law Leone Warren (Regina); sister-in-law Hazel (Frank) Benson, Lloydminster, many nieces, nephews and friends. James was born in the Holy Family Hospital, Prince Albert and lived in Shellbrook until he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in June 1941. He went overseas in April, 1942 and served with Bomber Command as wireless operator, air gunner until his plane was shot down in April 1943. He was a prisoner of war until April 1945 and returned to Canada in July, 1945. He married Audrey Smith in July 1946 and began working for DVA in Saskatoon, later transferring to Prince Albert, where he worked for Dept. of Indian Affairs until retirement. He recently received his 50 year pin with the Royal Canadian Legion and he was also a longtime member of the The Army & Navy Veterans Association. He was a Life Member of the Prince Albert Bowling Association and won trophies for bowling, curling and trap shooting. He enjoyed golfing, especially at Waskesiu where he got two holes in one. A memorial service for James will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Home on Thursday, April 24, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Herb Bassett Auxiliary or Alzheimer's Society will be greatly appreciated.
