Lorraine Valentine Karasiuk
Date de décès : 11 décembre 2008
MRS. LORRAINE VALENTINE KARASIUK (nee Kowalczyk) February 14, 1936 - December 11, 2008 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother, Lorraine at the age of 72 years. Mom's role in life was that of a caregiver - registered nurse, wife, mother, grandmother and a dear friend. She fought a courageous, five-year battle with cancer. Her pleasures in life were simple: visiting with her family and friends, preparing mouth-watering meals, watching the sun set at Emma Lake, raking her beach, picking berries and wild mushrooms, driving an unknown trail, reading, listening to music, playing computer games and cards, knitting, puzzles and gardening. She taught us the values of family and hard work. Her legacy is her children, grandchildren and the family businesses (Payless Foods in P.A., Cousin Ed's Trading Post and Keystone Park Resort, both at Emma Lake). We will miss Mom's presence and guidance, but are joyful that she will be reunited with Dad, Edmund Karasiuk. Lorraine is survived by her mother Kathleen Raas, four daughters and one son, ten grandchildren, her siblings and their families. Left to mourn her passing is her family: JoAnne and John Benesh (Michael, Daniel, Gabriel, Raphael, Arielle and Joel) of Saskatoon; Mary Anne and Mark Tokarik (Matthew) of St. Albert, AB and (Andrea Tokarik and Fianc%C3%A9, Shane Pask - Victoria, BC); Carole and Ron Rucks of Prince Albert; Kenneth and Kathy Karasiuk of Kelowna, BC; and Laurie Anne and Lawrence Burnouf (Kristen and Kaelyn Major) all of Saskatoon. Her siblings: Leona (Bob) Kelly, Agnes (Ray) Sheetka, Josie (Ren%C3%A9) April; Larry (Eugenia) Kowalczyk, Barb (Phil) Hartman, Pat (Laurie) MacNeil, Bernie (Vic) Yasinski, her brothers-in-law Don Karasiuk and Herman Schitka; her sister-in-law Olga Karasiuk. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Edmund Karasiuk; father Joseph Kowalczyk; mother and father-in-law Frances and Frank Karasiuk; sister Adeline Schitka; brother-in-law Robert Karasiuk; two nieces and one nephew in infancy. A celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18 at River Park Memorial Chapel, 301 River Street West, Prince Albert. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 19 at Sacred Heart Cathedral - 1401 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert by the Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, 20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 4H4. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family in care of mtokarik@shaw.ca .
