HORDYSKI - Adelene September 16, 1921 - December 11, 2008 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Adelene on December 11, 2008 at the age of 87. Adelene was born on September 16, 1921 in St. Julien, SK, the eighth of thirteen children. When Adelene was in her early twenties, she moved to Prince Albert and began working at Glass Dairies. It was soon after this, when she caught the attention of a strapping young farm boy, Charles Hordyski, whom she married on July 12, 1944 in Alvena, SK. They settled on a farm in the Honeymoon district, where they were blessed with 11 children. The farm evolved into an award winning dairy operation, which continued until 1988. The dairy operation was sold and they retired to Prince Albert where they resided until Adelene's health required her to move in Loewen's Care Home until her passing. Adelene is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Charles; her sons Kasper (Phyllis), Alex (Anne), Joseph (Linda), Eddie (Tracy), Patrick (Donna), Stephen (Pearl); her daughters Patricia (Gavin) Martens and Margaret (Leonard) Yungwirth; her daughter-in-law Grace, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister Sophie Krakowetz and her brother Eugene (Vi) Calyniuk. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Calyniuk; her children Ralph, Christopher and Theresa; her grandson Garrick Martens, as well as brothers and sisters, Ann Gramiak, Alex Calyniuk, Vivian Kalyniuk, Nellie Luciak, Julius Calyniuk, Emilia Calyniuk, Bill Calyniuk, Peter Calyniuk, Paul Calyniuk and Josephine Calyniuk. Adelene's life-long passions included many church activities, CWL, Kaiser, coffee row, gardening and above all "family." Special thanks to Dr. Halyk and the staff of Loewen's Care Home. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 - 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Prayer Service was held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 with Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 with celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Both services will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 260 - 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
