WINTERBURN Mr. Fred Winterburn passed away peacefully at the Herb Bassett Home on Monday, December 22, 2008 at the age of 97 years. Fred was born at Lucky Lake, SK October 2, 1911. He moved to Prince Albert in 1933 and settled in the Whitfield district where he and his brother Robert began their farming operation. He farmed until his retirement in 1978, when he moved to Marquis Towers. He was a fan of the P.A. Raiders and Toronto Blue Jays. He also enjoyed curlng and alley bowling. Fred travelled across Canada, Europe, Alaska, and several winter trips to Arizona. In July, 1990, he became a resident of the Herb Bassett Home, where he resided until his passing. Fred is survived by his three sisters, Mildred Moore of Prince Albert, Doreen Brown of Prince Albert, and Verna Cantin of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., his nieces and nephews Ellen (George) Ewert of P.A., Florence (Ed) Drangsholt of Lodge Pole, AB, Allen (Trudie) Brown of P.A., Donald (Edna) Brown of P.A., Herbie (Lana) Brown of Warman, SK, and Arnie Brown of P.A. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Herb and Annie Winterburn, his brothers Howard, Robert, Melvin (Gerta) and Clarence, and his brothers-in-law Bliss Moore, John Brown and Val Cantin. Special thanks to the Staff at the Herb Bassett Home for the many years of dedicated care. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Chapel of MacKenzie Funeral Home on Monday, December 29 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jeremy Doorton officiating. Interment in Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of Herb Basset Home, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
