THORBURN – Angus Sidney Darroch, 72, of 552 Marsh Road, Thorburn passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007 at home with his family by his side. Born in Westville he was a son of the late Andrew and Irene(Lockhart)Darroch. Angus was a resident of Thorburn for the past 50 years or so where he was an adherent of the Union Presbyterian Church. He worked for a number of years in the Drummond and McBean Mines before becoming a Mechanic, working at W.A. O’Farrells for over 30 years. In January, he celebrated 50 years of marriage. Angus is survived by his wife the former Willena MacDonald, Thorburn; daughters, Nancy Fraser (Jimmie), Hampton, NB; Donna Robertson(David), Karen MacMillan (Ernie), and son Scott (Janifer), all of Thorburn; granddaughters, Melissa, Heather and Angela Fraser all of Hampton, NB; grandsons, Nicholas, Brandon, Timothy and Sean Robertson, Matthew Darroch, Christopher and Blair MacMillan all of Thorburn. His grandchildren were the joy of his life as well as Honey, his beloved dog. He is also survived by sisters, Muriel Shanks, Sharon Campbell and Marlene Burns all of Ontario; brothers, Wayne, Ontario; Lester, Alberta; and Sam, Sask; brother-in-law Donnie MacGillivary, Trenton and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Joan, Betty, Carol, Andrea and Donna Jean( in infancy) and a brother David. His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus funeral home, New Glasgow for visiting from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Private family burial to follow in the Thorburn Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall. Donations in memory of Angus may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice.
