NEW GLASGOW – Anna Katherine Urquhart, 97, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Linacy, passed away December 19, 2007, in the manor. Born in Meadowville, Pictou Co., she was a daughter of the late George Edward and Jane Isabella (Bailey) Fraser. She was a resident of New Glasgow since 1972, prior to which she had resided in Linacy. Anna was a retired schoolteacher having taught for 38 years in various schools within Nova Scotia and was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association. Anna was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, where she was a former member and secretary of the A.M.S. and the Ladies Guild. Anna is survived by sons: Robert (Sarah), Edmonton; Douglas (Karen), Linacy; Edward, Churchville; David (Mary), New Glasgow; special granddaughter, Alaine Halliday, River Road; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Fraser N. Urquhart; brothers: Elmer, Edward and Chester; sisters: Luella, Jean and Lillian, in infancy. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to the Glen Haven Manor or to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
