Arthur Louis McCulloch, age 98, Telford /Riverton, passed away peacefully at Valley View Villa, Riverton, on March 26, 2007. Son of the late Donald William and Caroline (Bayliss) McCulloch, Art was the last surviving member of the McCulloch family born on McCulloch Hill in Meiklefield, Pictou County. Most of his married life was spent in Telford prior to becoming a resident of Valley View Villa in 2004. A retired employee of Hawker-Siddeley woodshop, he was well respected for his abilities as a carpenter and for sawmill equipment set-up. Art enjoyed gardening, was a dedicated farmer, loved family gatherings, and never missed an opportunity to spend time in his woodlot in Meiklefield. He was a lifelong member of the French River Presbyterian Church, serving as former Clerk of Session, and Elder for over 50 years. He is survived by daughter, Betty (Roger) Garby, of Stellarton; son, Donald (Deborah), of Pictou Landing; daughter-in-law, Judy, of Halifax. Buppa will be sadly missed by grandchildren: Stephen (Sheila) of Ottawa; Christopher (Jane) of Bathurst; Rick (Amy) of Fort McMurray; Randy of Grand Prairie; Lisa of Toronto; Andrea and Brian of Stellarton; two cherished great-grandchildren, Erica and William; sister-in-law, Catherine McCulloch of Oakville; and several nieces and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Aileen G. Dickie; son, A. Douglas; sisters, Christena McCulloch and Jean Marshall; brothers, James, William and Peter in infancy. His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home for visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, from where funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Burial will be in the Telford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Arthur may be made to Camp Geddie, Merigomish, or to the Telford Cemetery Fund.
