HILLSIDE – Benjamin Leslie “Ben” Boyles, age 84, of Hillside, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Hillside, he was a son of the late Rupert and May (Thompson) Boyles. He was a retired Bucker, Welder and Fitter from Trenton Works and lobster fisherman. He served overseas during WWII, with the 1st Canadian Assault Troops 8th Army Ontario Tanks. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29, Overseas War Veterans Association and was inducted into the Pictou Fisheries Museum. He is survived by sons: Peter (Sadie), Hillside; Jim (Heidi), Hillside; Don (Patricia) Hussher, Trenton; daughter, Marion Nicholson, Trenton; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce (George) Frazee, New Glasgow; Eva Gertridge, Gaspereau; brothers: Clifford, Kingston, Ont.; Fraser (Eva), Trenton; Doug, Grande Prairie, Alberta; Alex, L’Ardoise; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Eunice Dunn; brothers: Walter, Allan, Frank, Freeman, Harry, Lawrence, Charles, Phillip, and a baby in infancy. Visitation today 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Saturday in First United Church, Trenton, with Rev. Debra Orton officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
