Bernard Joseph Landry "BJ", 27, of Freeport, Digby County, and formerly of Pictou, died February 15, 2007, at home. He is survived by his companion, Tonia Patterson; and son, Ryan Landry, of Long Island, N.S.; mother, Beatrice Currie, Lower Sackville; father, Francis Landry, Pictou; brother, Colin, Pictou; and his sister, Amy, Lower Sackville; grandparents, Joseph and Hazel Currie, Pictou; over 40 aunts and uncles and more than 50 cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Justine Landry. Born and raised in Pictou, BJ attended Pictou Schools. An excellent athlete, BJ enjoyed sports of all kinds, but will best be remembered as an outstanding soccer player. He trained as a plumber and moved to the Digby/ Long Island area where he was employed as a fisherman. He was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his young son Ryan. BJ will be sadly missed by his many friends in Digby, Halifax, and Pictou Counties, and his large extended family. Visitation was held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please.
