Union Centre – Carl Reuben Crawford, age 68, of Union Centre, Pictou Co., passed away Monday, October 22, 2007, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Reuben and Elizabeth (Bowen) Crawford, Fox Brook. Carl served in the Canadian Army for six years, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #35, Westville, for 36 years. He worked in the Drummond coal mine for 21 years and later worked in construction in the area and finally as a brick layer assistant in Ontario. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Gloria (Wilson); daughters, Kathleen, Westville; Gloria Helli (Dan), Brantford, Ont; sons, Steven (Ann Marie), Paris, Ont.; Robbie (Kim), Paris, Ont; grandchildren: Terri Lynn and Steven; Diana and Codie; Melissa, Kelley and Cole; Kori Ann and Cassidy; great grand-daughter, Tyiana; sister, Gertie Copp, Westville; brother, Robert “Bob”, Westville. He was predeceased by his brother, James “Buster”; and sister, Joan Moulton. Visitations will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday from Eagles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial will be in MacLeod Cemetery, Fox Brook. Family flowers only.
